If the “power foam” has no more potency than its dispenser, forget about this product. The plunger stuck in place after a single press, just enough fluid dribbling out to make the bottle too slippery to hang on to. Even a squirt of WD-40 had no effect. After a couple of more tries, I returned it to Walgreen’s. Before ordering a 3-pack you may first wish to try a single bottle.

I don’t want to date myself, but back in the day when a company wanted to discontinue a product, they discontinued it and there was nothing that could be done. There was no Facebook, no “Email us your customer comments!” and no Amazon.com. Over the years I have had many a favorite product yanked from my world with no recourse.
I’ve been an avid buyer of Neutrogena’s Acne Stress Control Power Foam Wash since it’s debut. Since middle school, I’ve suffered break-outs due to stress, oily skin, PMS hormones and food allergies. I’ve tried everything. Isn’t that what we all always say? I’ve tried EVERYTHING.
From day one, I was in love. One or two pumps of Neutrogena’s Acne Stress Control Power Foam Wash and your palm is filled with clean-smelling white fluff that is much more powerful than it looks. Hence the name. Break-outs vanish or simply never emerge. And your skin is left feeling soothed and pampered.
I’m not sure what happened, all I know is the tell-tale signs were there. The stores that usually carried it were all suspiciously “out of stock.” No little price tag and no empty shelf space where the item should have been. It was just…gone. Oh, no, not again. I Googled the product name and “+discontinued” and sure enough several sites and message boards confirmed my suspicion. I immediately sent emails and Facebook wall posts to Neutrogena. Mad, passionate, angry, desperate, pleading, begging emails and Facebook wall posts. I went without my precious foam for three weeks. Three long miserable weeks in which my skin went back to its helpless old bumpy, zitty self.
And guess what? It’s back. (And so is my beautiful zit-free skin!) I don’t know how. I don’t know if it was fans everywhere in the Internet age who banded together and fought back. But the product is available again. That’s all that matters. My precious foam is back.
I don’t know if it will work for you. I just know it’s back and if you don’t buy it, more for me!

I read the negative reviews here but I just don’t agree with them. I have older skin so it dries out easily and breaks out easily too. Most of the acne control cleansers I’ve tried have been so drying it was like having the peel after a sunburn. Not this one. When I first got it in about three days of daily use my skin was clearing up nicely without drying out. Now I am ordering more, but it is not easy to find. I agree the pump does tend to break easily. My first bottle worked fine to the end of product and my next one malfunctioned about halfway through but I just used it without the foaming pump. It still did the job. It is so good not to have dried out skin when I treat acne I don’t care about the bottle. I am ordering more.

I’m surprised by the nagative reviews, but it just goes to show how different everyone’s skin is and how hard it is to find the right cleanser. My face gets pretty oily and I do have occassional breakouts. I bought this at my local grocery store and it’s amazing. It got everything under control. Now that I am almost out though, the grocery near my house no longer carries it. I’ve tried several other stores as well, with no luck. I’m so glad I can order it online now. Otherwise, I would be back on the hunt for a good cleanser again. It’s so hard to go through so many products to find the right one, not to mention expensive when you consider money spent on failed attempts. Yes, the pump gets all funky and hard to use on mine as well (1 star off for that), but I am still very pleased with this product in regards to the final result.

For moderate to acute acne (author included):
This is a good first line of defense cleanser, as it will prepare your skin for the more intense treatements to come. It is gentle, non-comodegenic, slightly medicated and rinses clean. However, if you are in this group (which I am) it won’t do much for your acne on its own.
For light acne/sensitive skin (author’s girl friend):
For many of the same reason above this is an excellent cleanser and may be all you need.
